the old refrain: if I had known…
I tried to tell you gently
but naturally
everything eats at us
what use to say we might have saved it—
the fruit, the root, the tree?
still much remains for tending
by clean cut, green try
the old refrain: if I had known…
I tried to tell you gently
but naturally
everything eats at us
what use to say we might have saved it—
the fruit, the root, the tree?
still much remains for tending
by clean cut, green try
truly poignant, yet the embrace of life as life coming through the seeming regret, or is a kind of grief… all around splendid

Thanks very much. I wasn’t sure if the layers would come through in such a short piece, so I really appreciate your comment.

Life hurts but had a lot of beauty, too. This is wonderful.

I like this very much…how a very human interaction joins with an event and reflections on the potential that remains.

We find so much human in the garden, don’t we? Thank you, Janice.

Everything does eat at us, doesn’t it? No matter who tells us not to let it. Somehow, knowing doesn’t help us turn that off.
