It’s a mother-knack I have
to spot what’s plain before my eyes:
your dreams, your schemes,
your stumbles, your tears,
all those small subterfuges.
Remember, I was a teen once, too.
I found those limitless beating-wing years
here in my locked-box heart.
So much to read between the lines! Good writing, Jen. Love the locked-box heart. 🙂

Always an adventure! By which I mean the roller-coaster type.

Thank you. I had thought this was going in a different direction, but of course it ended up being all about me. 😉

Oh, beautiful. I love the tone of this, sort of a gentle, affectionate exasperation. I was so happy to see your name on the gargleblaster grid – it’s been a while since we’ve seen you, I think. Thanks for playing this week!

Lovely, Jennifer. Are you both using a little subterfuge?

Thinking of how you are exploring the vulnerability of authority in the Rose-Witch series ….

Man, relationships are hard. 🙂 I keep thinking about how my mom must have viewed my teenage years, layering that over how I interact with my teenagers…makes me feel old and childish at the same time.

This is just the process — your mother went through it, too. A friend of mine clued me in early: a little compassion for yourself (and those kids) goes a loooonnng way. It saved my sanity many, many times!
