squinting into golden blue
to ponder a shape—
dream of a shape—
(you said: does God not know
how to grow a tree?)
one ladder-rung at a time
wondering, clip and toss
seeking bee-bloom, wasp-fruit
or just lean here in the quiet hum
of the trunk’s slender warmth
I love the sense of business giving in to just being (bee-ing?).
And I’m enjoying your artwork, too.

Thank you. The sun is so good at relaxing the business right out of me!

That makes me happy, thank you. And I came this close to not posting it at all…

Oh, I’m extra glad I said something, then, because I know that feeling of – is this any good? Does it say ANYTHING? and yes, this poem really did. Yes!

Thanks, Angie. I keep trying to impress on my family what a good joke it is that we prune plums. 😀

How funny! We looked at our plum trees yesterday, but need to wait a few more days to prune – just getting an idea of the shape. You really capture that stepping back and stepping in, and the sheer pleasure of working with a tree. This series is great. I feel like I’m getting to know your garden.🌱

Thanks very much. It makes me pay more attention to individual bits of the garden, too.

Feels like summer already 🙂 You need a proper fruit tree ladder. We have several. I could lend you one.

The art of life. I recognize that feeling of leaning into a tree trunk, the comfort that resides there. (K)

Trees just put things right into perspective, don’t they?
