it is good
how things shrivel
dreams, one by one
diminished, discarded
merely achieved
this drawing down
with the season
(how the insect ceases
flailing under silk
succumbs)
as one who will not say
now i am content
if only—
not telling you
nor leaving
some void
how would you know?
an absence
of absence
you would still find beauty
or something close
enough, not needing
more words
oh. my. goodness. it is good! how things shrivel, absence, absence, not needing more. skillfully, beautifully made poem

Love the title. Ad if – ‘Oh suffer, more beauty …’ And the opening is very strong. As you wander inward, another kind of beauty?

At least a reaching for contentment. I think. 🙂

splendid meditation of a particular here-and-now…the opening two lines, re-imaging ‘good’ – and what follows elaborates in surprising and insightful ways…the image of an insect under silk so quite refreshing…

Thanks very much for your comment. The insect/silk image came from I-don’t-know-where, and I questioned it. Glad I went with my gut on using it. 😉
