At my age

Anything can be learned, forgotten
and this ease of recognition—words
stitches, notes, the fit of your body
to another—would it be comfort
(to know why) you want?

Prompt from Poetic Asides, an experience or inexperience poem.

    1. Believe it or not, I was trying to make this into a cleave poem, but the right half just wasn’t holding together. I got frustrated and glued it all back together. 🙂

      1. Maybe this for a cleave:

Anything can be learned, … forgotten
and this ease of recognition – … words
stitches, notes, … the fit of your body
to another – … might easily bring comfort
tell you why, … or not

        1. Actually, not too far off the last version I tried 🙂

          Anything can be learned, /forgotten
and this ease of recognition— /words
stitches, notes, the fit /of your body
          to another— /(experience)
would it be comfort / to know why
          you want /to know
          ?

    1. This was an odd one for me. After long fiddling I came back to nearly the first draft–and then wondered what I was saying–and then people were immediately like, “Yeah, I get it.”

I'd be so happy to hear from you.
