And what should we expect
in this darkling time but more
darkness? The earth hurtles on
life hurtles on, this quick descent
to what end? All nature gathers in
her own, colors flare then fade
to gray and white. We retreat
to our caves of ache and grief
and fall from there.
Do you tell me there will be sun
today, that somewhere it is spring
and this shadow will pass, too meager
to blight that distant faith in light.
Tell me again.
I love this one!

Thank you. Sometimes after much wrangling I finally get that aha moment. Whew.

Love this! It is how I feel about much of the international debate on refugees, on war, on climate, etc. That last line, tell me again the sun shines somewhere, is so perfect – searching for hope.

And I really had to make myself put that hope in. Some days…

I do that too. Try to make my pieces sound happier sometimes than I feel. It really worked here!

That feeling can be so oppressive. Easier to talk about finding light, sometimes, than to actually see it.

I love your take on this type of personal anguish. I was thinking along the same lines yesterday too 🙂

Reblogging because I recognise the symptoms, and this poem describes them so beautifully.
