In those empty days, formless
planets mere swirls of gas
(glass-blown and blackly
beautiful in vast starry array)—
no need to divide
deep water from the heavens
for hell held no fury until
the very gentleman, long-fused
blew up at human
incompetence
Incompetence could be chalked up as the root of most of the world’s problems especially when met by someone with very little compassion or tolerance for stupidity.

Good reminder to be tolerant and compassionate. Alas, even the veriest of gentlemen sometimes lose their temper.

Often, I find it difficult to understand poems (I’m not very good with them). But always, I find your language beautiful.

Thank you. Sometimes it can be about mood and what the language evokes, not always about “meaning.” In my humble opinion. 🙂

Jennifer, this piece invoked memories of my mother who often would say, “I had to do and then un-.”
Thanks for this.

Till date i am not able to figure out if human incompetence is due to lack of interest or sheer laziness. Good points to ponder over.

Oh, thanks for your thought-provoking comment. I guess there are lots of reasons for incompetence, which can get lost when we have to deal with the results. 😦
