Besieged

sun finds chinks, batters

white-stone fortress, air heavy

as our eyelids, limbs

held close in blind-darkened room

we dream of ravishing wind

breathless

night presses damp

skin radiating heat—

agreed to terms of surrender

we sleep

    1. I’m glad the mood came through somewhat. I changed a lot in the second stanza because it seemed too obvious, then wondered if it was too obscure…
